C1 S13 - A Tough Travel Day

This session played July 1, 2025.

We are so out of here. We are all mounted and depart via the North Gate.

Overland E8 Mountains (DEADLY) - Day 7 AM - Showers

Mounted travel: 2 hours; difficult terrain (mountain passes): 2x = 4 hours total to cross hex. Deadly: random encounters every hour = 4 checks this hex.

RE checks 1d6:

3 → Clear!

5 → Clear!

2 → Clear!

6 → Clear!

Leaving hex E8.

Ryarn DC9 INT for navigation 1d20: 6 + 2 = 9 → Fail!

The natural, unblazed trails through these mountains are very tough to follow, especially on horseback. We lose the trail.

We end up in 1d20 [1-4: D7; 5-8: E6; 9-12: F7; 13-16: F9; 17-20: E10]: 3 → D7.

Overland D7 Mountains (DEADLY) - Day 7 PM - Showers

The best path we can manage sees us fording the river at a shallow point and then climbing again into towering peaks. The trail is narrow and difficult; we move single-file and very slowly.

RE checks 1d6:

2 → Clear!

6 → Clear!

4 → Clear!

4 → Clear!

Leaving hex D7.

Ryarn DC12 INT for navigation 1d20: 4 + 2 = 6 → Fail!

We lose the trail again, and light is fading.

We end up in 1d8 [1-2: C8; 3-4: C6; 5-6: D5; 7-8: E6]: 4 → C6.

Overland C6 Swamp (RISKY) - Day 7 Evening - Showers

The mountain path descends to meet the swampland.

Brolga: … We’ve been here before, haven’t we?

Ryarn: The rain’s making things hazy … but yes, this place looks familiar, even for a featureless swamp.

Daeniel: We’ve gone the wrong way?

Ryarn: Just a wrong turn, brother. We’ve got to be close.

Denton: Well anyway, there’s not much more we can do today. Perhaps, with more light, we’ll find the path again.

Foraging - DC12 INT:

Ryarn: 14 + 2 = 16 → Success

Denton: CRIT FAIL

Daeniel: 12 + 0 = 12 → Fail

Brolga: 2 + 2 = 4 → Fail

Ryarn catches a meal, let’s say she nails a bird with a thrown dagger. Everyone else gets screwed. Denton’s Nat 1 will mean his efforts have attracted the attention of some kind of hostile animal.

It’s a GIANT FROG! Just one, thank goodness.
